Just after his legal problems, Gene Krupa joined Benny Goodman's band in October of 1943, staying until about December. This wonderful rarity documents his time with Benny, with over 50 minutes of music on 14 tracks. Those who heard Gene and the band at that time continue to maintain that the orchestra--and Gene--never sounded better. The highlight is a nine-minute version of Sing Sing Sing that has to be heard to be believed. Others on the band at that time included Bill Harris, Jess Stacy, Al Klink, Sid Weiss and Lee Castle. But we all know who the real star was. Tracks: Sugarfoot Stomp, Sweet Georgia Brown, Down South Camp Meeting, I'll Be Around, Seven Come Eleven, Clarinet a la King, King Porter Stomp, Mission to Moscow, Stealin' Apples, Do Nothin' Till You Hear From Me, I Found a New Baby, Honeysuckle Rose, Henderson Stomp, Sing Sing Sing.
