One of the great, unearthed documents in history comes to us courtesy of our friend Paul Testa. Benny Goodman hosted a gala on January 15, 1968 in honor of the 30th anniversary of the famed, Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert. Among those in attendance at this semi-private gathering, held at the Goodman digs in New York, were Gene Krupa, Jess Stacey, John Hammond, Lionel Hampton, Martha Tilton, Sol Hurok, Ziggy Elman and many others. Fortunately for us, WNEW Radio's William B. Williams was there with his microphone, interviewing just about everyone, and then coupling the interviews with excerpts from the actual Carnegie Hall concert. Wonderful fidelity, this is a one-of-a-kind piece of history.
