We received several requests this winter for a "complete Louis Armstrong concert." It doesn't get any better than this. Filmed in Paris in 1967, this hour-long show was released briefly in Japan, but has never been shown in this country. This is the final version of the All-Stars, with Pops, Joe Muranyi, Tyree Glenn, Buddy Catlett, Marty Napoleon, Jewel Brown and Danny Barcelona. Pops is in fine vocal and trumpet form, and this is possibly the last filmed record of Satch blowing at full strength. A pristine print--only a drum workout by Danny Barcelona is missing, and a must-have.
