What an incredible find! This is a 100-minute, professionally produced documentary on the life and times of the one and only great cornetist, the man who was called "the white Louis Armstrong," Wild Bill Davison. The centerpiece of this DVD is the extensive interview with WIld Bill, as he tells takes about everyone from Frankie Teschmacher to Al Capone. There is great performance footage of Bill with Eddie Condon, some of it actually filmed at Condon's in the mid-1940s; Bill at the Sacramento Jazz Festival (which he helped found); and a rare "Tonight Show" appearance with Johnny Carson from the mid-1980s. This project was privately filmed and funded in 1991 and quickly sold out its run. It's been sitting in the vaults ever since. JazzLegends.com urges each and every one of you to seriously consider acquiring this prized, collectors item about one of the most important forces in jazz.
